Building a Mining Company
This website is the product of conception of the twin evils of boredom and ego. It humours me to think that if you read this you will be able to make more informed decisions as you consider how you will develop your mineral property. Having worked in the mining industry most of my life it seemed appropriate to write a whimsical look at the industry with a view to simultaneously humoring and teaching. My goals are not lofty but they do hover. You should understand a few things about the creation of this website. For one thing, most of it was written while listening to CD’s of Yanni so if it gets a bit fluffy in spots that is why. So to whom will this appeal? Lots of folks I hope. If you are interested in developing a mining company but are kept awake with nightmares of the “Son of Bre-X” this will give you some tools to inoculate yourself against innocence. It is intended to give you some useful analytical tools with which to look impressive and there is an attempt to de-mystify both project financing and how to live a life of integrity… that’s the part that hovers a bit.. The website is broken into 5 main topic areas: Exploration, Modeling, Feasibility, Finance and Implementation. Everything you ever needed to know about each of these topics is contained in their sub-sites. Well, perhaps not everything but there is some cool stuff and it is arranged so you gain a sense of the chronological development of mining projects as well as some insight into some of the pitfalls at each stage of the process. The thinking is that an informed company builder is a wiser company builder who increases the odds of building something to be proud of and make some money at the same time.
